The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for coordinating domestic and international inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring timely delivery of materials and finished goods, and supporting efficient transportation operations. This role works closely with Manufacturing Operations, Purchasing, Sales & Customer Service, and external carriers to ensure product moves efficiently, international trade requirements are met, freight costs are controlled, and customer expectations are exceeded.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate domestic and international shipments of components, and finished goods.
  • Arrange transportation with carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and third-party logistics providers.
  • Manage import and export activities, ensuring compliance with U.S. and international trade regulations.
  • Prepare and review shipping documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin, export declarations, and customs documentation.
  • Coordinate international shipments by air, ocean, and ground transportation.
  • Monitor shipment status and proactively communicate updates, delays, and issues to customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Work closely with customs brokers and freight forwarders to ensure smooth customs clearance and timely delivery of goods.
  • Resolve shipping discrepancies, freight claims, customs issues, and transportation-related problems.
  • Support compliance with import/export regulations, including HTS classifications, country-of-origin requirements, denied party screening, and recordkeeping requirements.
  • Partner with Purchasing to coordinate inbound material deliveries and supplier shipments
  • Collaborate with Sales and Customer Service, and the Manufacturing Operations teams to prioritize shipments and meet customer delivery requirements.
  • Monitor and analyze freight expenses, identifying opportunities to reduce transportation costs and improve service levels.
  • Maintain accurate shipment records and update ERP system transactions related to receipts and shipments.
  • Evaluate carrier, broker, and freight forwarder performance and recommend improvements when appropriate.
  • Utilize standard logistics related KPIs to measure on-time deliveries and shipment performance
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to logistics, transportation, warehousing, and supply chain processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, International Trade, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of logistics, transportation, shipping, or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience coordinating international shipments and working with freight forwarders and customs brokers required.
  • Knowledge of import/export procedures and international shipping documentation preferred.
  • Experience using ERP systems and transportation management software preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of domestic and international transportation methods, including air, ocean, parcel, and LTL/FTL freight.
  • Understanding of international trade regulations, customs processes, Incoterms®, export documentation, and import requirements.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple shipments and priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, suppliers, and customers

Work Environment:

  • Air-conditioned shop
  • Local traveling for materials, supplies and pick/deliveries to and from suppliers.
